The Grammy Awards “Music’s Biggest Night”

Forget Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July. The Grammy Awards show is the most important day of the year. Everyone that’s big in the musical scene was there. According to BWW Special Coverage, Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), FUN., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean, and Kanye top the nominations with six each; The Black Keys, Chick Corea, and Miguel each garner five nods; and producer Jeff Bhasker, mastering engineer Bob Ludwig and Nas are each up for four awards.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards was held on February 10, 2013. If you missed the show last Sunday let me summarize the important part of it all: MUSICAL THEATRE. The nominations were full of good potential.

The 2013 Nominees for Best Musical Theater Album:

Follies Porgy&Bess Newsies Nice Work Once

All these albums were wonderful but the best according to the fans and critics was in fact…. drum roll please….

Once:The Musical

This folkly pop, low-budget musical turned to movie was written and directed by John Carney. It’s about a love story about a Dublin guy who meets a girl and the almost make love. Now Once is headed to Broadway for its greatly written songs and of course dance moves.

The choreography by Steven Hoggett is fresh, exciting, and young. The dancing is cute and looks difficult to do with instruments but the performers do an excellent job. It is one of my favorite shows and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be enchanted by a charming show.
